Senior Tax Credit Information and Application
Polk County will begin taking applications for the Senior Tax Credit in March. In November 2024, residents passed the ballot issue asking if they wanted the tax credit initiated in Polk County.
Those that are turning age 62 or older in 2025 and own their own home may apply for the credit. Please click here for the application. They may also be picked up in the Collector, Recorder, Assessor and County Clerk offices at the courthouse on March 3rd. Applicants will need to bring their completed, signed and notarized applications along with photo ID, proof of residency and proof of ownership of the residence with them to the 2nd floor of the courthouse Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. from March 3 – May 30. A table will be set up in the lobby area of the 2nd floor to accept applications.
Applicants will need to re-apply annually to maintain the credit status. Failure to re-apply will result in loss of credit status and will be reset to the most current assessment year.

FAQ Polk County Senior Real Estate Property Tax Relief Program
We are in the process of replacing a bridge located on S 244 road, approx. 1/10 of a mile south of E 535. The contractor has closed that section of road for the duration of construction. the Construction could take up to 90 days, with a proposed completion date of May 31, 2025, depending on the weather conditions during the construction period.
